My Portrait a Day on July 9

Wewelsburg is a beautiful Renaissance castle in Germany with a dark past. The SS, under Heinrich Himmler, used the castle as a central SS-cult-site and after 1941, plans were developed to enlarge it to the so-called “Center of the World” (from Wikipedia). Our guide is in front of a map of the ambitious building plan that was never completed. A black sun in the floor of the SS General’s Hall is still being used as a important symbol for neo-Nazi groups. A big problem for the museum with a great interest to visit the SS General’s Hall for the wrong reasons.
